Terraces and patios

Terrace, patio and loggia- these are terms which we often use to describe the architecture of the Mediterranean style. For it will be useful to desribe widely these terms and present the differences between them.

Terrace

Terrace area is located at the height of the ground, floor or roof and is designed for people who can spend time at this space.

Terraces are especially popular in countries with a mild climate, there they have the recreational functions are they were placed the gardens café on them.

Terrace can be covered or not. During its construction, the most important is a proper insulation to protect the rooms located under the terrace against humidity.



Patio

Patio is the inner courtyard of the building, which lead to the entrance of each part of the house. It is often surrounded by arcades. Very often patio has stone tiles and is rich in vegetation, statues and fountains. It is also primarily a relaxation zone characteristic for the houses of Spanish, Portuguese and Ibero-American.

Loggia

Loggia a recess in the building open at least on one side on the outside, separated from the interior of the building with doors and windows. Sometimes you can meet a glazed balconies, which are closed for the environment. Loggia can be single- or multi- storey.
